Front of House Coordinator/Box Office Assistant

Classification: Paid $12-$13 per hour, DOE; 10 hours per week with increased hours in production

Reports to: Managing Artistic Director and Box Office Coordinator

Organization: Third Rail Repertory Theatre was founded in 2003 and quickly established itself as one of Portland’s most critically acclaimed theatre companies. It has garnered an unprecedented number of outstanding Portland theatre awards and since its first season, has experienced steady growth and consistent critical praise. With a core company of professional theatre artists (who also work as volunteers in all aspects of the administrative functions), Third Rail produces thought-provoking, entertaining and challenging work with a focus on timely and resonant storytelling. Position Summary: The Box Office Assistant/Front of House Coordinator offers a high level of customer service aligned with the organizational values of impact, inclusion, and rigor. This position assists the Box Office Coordinator with the weekday in-house Box Office and serves as the Box Office Manager at our National Theatre Live programming. Additionally, this position serves as the Front of House Coordinator for all of Third Rail’s programming, and the acting House Manager at 4 Main Stage plays.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • On-site House Manager for Third Rail’s Main Stage programming and Box Office Manager for National Theatre Live
  • Maintain knowledge of ticketing software and ticketing policies; this will require a training period with the Box Office Coordinator
  • Answer emails and phone calls regarding ticket sales and other program and organizational information
  • Manage and schedule volunteer support for both NT Live and Main Stage
  • Manage inventory and purchasing of concessions items for both NT Live and Main Stage
  • Other duties as assigned.

Administrative Assistant/Marketing Associate

Classification: Paid $12-$14 per hour, DOE; 30 hours per week

Position Summary: The Administrative Assistant/Marketing Associate reports to the Managing Artistic Director and works closely with all other department leadership to ensure the highest quality of customer service aligned with the organizational values of impact, inclusion, and rigor. This position serves many departments within the organization, and seeks someone who is constantly thinking several steps ahead and is comfortable and experienced juggling multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

Administrative Duties

  • Support Managing Artistic Director calendar scheduling
  • Assist with Development-related tasks and procedures
  • Support and assist with special evening and weekend events throughout the TRRT Season
  • Event volunteer point of contact
  • Assist in management of Third Rail Mentorship Company during their assigned “Office Hours”
  • Support day-to-day office procedures, including receiving mail and running additional errands

Marketing  Duties

  • Project-manage the creation of marketing collateral for each show in the TRRT season, including postcards, mailers and programs
  • Create and send bi-weekly email newsletter and additional eblasts and invites to TRRT events, as needed
  • Manage TRRT social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, with the assistance of Third Rail Mentees
  • Write and edit content for the Third Rail blog
  • Other writing and editing tasks as assigned
