John Steinkamp

John is proud to call Third Rail his artistic home. He joined the company after performing in their first production, Recent Tragic Events. Since then he has appeared in Third Rail's productions of The Lonesome West (Valene) and A Lesson from Aloes (Piet). Other recent Portland productions include The Real Inspector Hound (CoHo Productions) and Gilgamesh (The Haven Project).

John's involvement in Portland theater dates back to 1977 and includes performances at Storefront Actor's Theatre, Portland Theatre Workshop, Portland Civic Theatre, The New Rose, Artists Repertory Theatre and Oregon Shakespeare Festival. He received his acting training at New York University and the Stella Adler Studio of Acting.

John has bachelor of arts degree in English from Indiana University and has written several short plays for the organizations Kids on the Block and The Haven Project.
