Sunday May 9: Craig Wright Day
If you attended "Leenane Day," when we treated you to an entire day devoted to Martin
McDonagh's Leenane Trilogy, then you're gonna love Sunday, May 9. We're devoting the entire day to the work of Craig Wright.
Along with our mainstage show, we're revving up the time machine to revisit two of our most successful productions. At 10:30
AM, hear a reading of Third Rail's very first production, Recent Tragic Events, with the original cast. This is the
one that put Third Rail on the map back in 2005, garnering us a slew of Drammy awards. After the reading, you'll have time
for a quick lunch before the 2:00 PM matinee of The Gray Sisters. Then, at 6:00 PM, we'll read Craig's lovely play
The Pavilion, once again featuring the original cast from our popular production back at the Interstate Firehouse
Cultural Center. The readings are free, and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. You don't have to attend the
matinee to see the readings, but why not make a day of it? We guarantee that by day's end you'll be looking at the world, and
your place in it, in whole new way.
May 15 and 16, via NT Live: Alan Bennett's The Habit of
Art
Our next screening of live-captured performance from the National Theatre, London via NT Live will be the acclaimed new drama from Alan
Bennett, The Habit of Art. The high-definition screenings of this productionk, sold out in London, will be Saturday
May 15 at 2:00 PM, and Sunday May 16 at 7:00 PM. All tickets are $20. The reviewer for the Daily Telegraph said of
this play, "I can think of few plays that combine wild laughter, deep emotion and technical ingenuity with such bravura.
The Habit of Art is a smash hit if ever I saw one...Alex Jennings is superb...Frances de la Tour, as the stage manager
and Adrian Scarborough as the biographer Humphrey Carpenter, give performances of comic perfection." The Habit of Art
is recommended for mature audiences. Call 503-235-1101 for reservations, or go online to reserve now.
