Feeling Cooped Up? Come to These Free Third Rail Events!
Third Rail is happy to be offering two free events coinciding with our production of Peter Barnes's "Nobody Here But Us Chickens."
The first is the last in our series of panel discussions addressing themes raised by our currently running productions.
"Who are the Chickens?"
This Sunday, May 11 at 4pm at the IFCC (immediately after the matinee performance of "Chickens"), join the company and distinguished panelists in a discussion about engaging in life despite our perceived foibles, weaknesses and warts.
The panel includes Rev. Carol Davies and Richard Turner, a rehabilitation instructor with Oregon Commission for the Blind. Richard and Carol acted as advisors during reheasals for "Chickens" and are a delightful pair. They're sure to offer many insights and anecdotes on this topic.
Play Reading: Peter Barnes's "Dreaming"
The following Sunday, May 18 at 7pm at the IFCC, we'll present the last in our series of free play readings, with Peter Barnes's "Dreaming."
If you've seen "Chickens" you've gotten a taste of Barnes's wild theatricality, big heart, and dazzling wordplay. Now come hear what happens when Barnes really goes for broke.
In the bloody aftermath of the Wars of the Roses, Captain John Mallory leads a band of renegades across a war-torn landscape on a breathtaking quest in search of a dream--a dream of home.
An apocalyptic vision packed with ravishing images, "Dreaming" is a haunting and brutally funny story of heroism and human values. The cast for the reading will include Third Rail company members and some familiar faces from previous Third Rail shows.
Again, each of these FREE events will be held at the Interstate Firehouse Cultural Center. We hope to see you there!
And if you haven't seen "Nobody Here But Us Chickens" yet, there's still a chance! "Chickens" runs through May 24 at the IFCC, 5340 N. Interstate. Call 503-235-1101 for reservations, or purchase tickets at www.thirdrailrep.org.
